Research of the Working Group Statistics in the Social Sciences

My research focusses on educational attainment, and in particular track mobility, that is, switching between school types. I am interested in who uses these possibilities; is track mobility a way for disadvantaged children to still attain a higher level of education, or is it mainly used by well off children who initially failed to enter higher school types? I am also interested in the long term consequences of track mobility; do those who attain a diploma through track mobility get the same benefits from that diploma as those who attained it directly, or does the initial track placement leave a permanent scar? Methodologically, my interest lies in the further development of non-linear models for categorical data and the different ways of interpreting their results.
